Cook County Health (CCH) has partnered with a new transportation provider to take eligible patients to and from their CCH doctors’ appointments. This new partnership will provide our patients with more ride scheduling options. You can learn more about what this change will mean to you in the Frequently Asked Questions below.

What is happening?
Beginning September 12, 2022, Cook County Health will begin transitioning to a new transportation provider to improve the ride service for our patients.
You will still be able to schedule rides to and from your doctors’ appointments by calling 312-864-RIDE (7433). The rides will work in the same way. You can schedule your ride as soon as your appointment is made but must schedule at least two business days’ before your appointment.
You will be notified of the vehicle and driver picking you up prior to their arrival via text message.
Will the service change?
Patients will be able to get the same ride service as before with an improved ride experience. You will still be dropped off at Cook County Health hospitals and clinics and can still call to schedule your ride ahead of time. The scheduling office can be reached at 312-864-RIDE (7433) and is open Monday – Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The scheduling office is closed on Sundays and holidays.
What will the vehicles look like?
Vehicles will look like regular cars or cabs that are used by Lyft, Uber, or cab companies. Vehicles will no longer have Cook County Health’s name or logo on them.
How will I know which vehicle is arriving for me?
You will receive a text message with the name of your driver and the make and model of the car picking you up.
Are the drivers licensed and insured?
Yes, all drivers are licensed and insured.
Do I have to pay?
Rides are a free benefit for patients with the following insurance plans:
- Blue Cross/Blue Shield Cook Medical Group-HMO
- Medicaid (Illinois standard)
What happens when I need a ride home?
You will receive a text message with a link to click on to notify a driver that you are ready to be picked up. You can also call 312-864-RIDE (7433) for pickup.
