Help the American Cancer Society finish the fight against cancer!

One hundred years ago, the American Cancer Society began the fight of a lifetime – the fight to end cancer. Today, we need your help to finish the fight by inviting men and women between the ages of 30 and 65 years who have no personal history of cancer to join a historic research study, Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS-3). The ultimate goal is to enroll at least 300,000 adults from various racial/ethnic backgrounds from across the U.S. The purpose of CPS-3 is to better understand the lifestyle, behavioral, environmental and genetic factors that cause or prevent cancer and to ultimately eliminate cancer as a major health problem for this and future generations.

In August, you will have an unprecedented opportunity to participate in research in our community. The American Cancer Society in partnership with John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County and many other partners will be enrolling participants for our newest research study. Once you schedule your appointment, you will receive instructions on how to complete your first, most comprehensive survey online. This survey will take approximately 45-60 minutes to complete. Your on-site enrollment will take approximately 20-30 minutes and will involve:

• Completing a short survey packet
• Signing a consent form
• Providing a waist circumference measurement
• Providing a small blood sample (similar to a doctor’s visit).

Enrollment will take place at John J. Stroger, Jr. Hospital in the Cafeteria on Thursday, August 15th from 9:00AM-12:30PM.
