Cook County Health administered its 500,000th dose of the COVID-19 vaccine this morning.

“This is an exciting day in our vaccination efforts here in Cook County,” said Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle. “Every vaccine administered is a step closer to a healthy Cook County and getting us back to normal life.”

This week, in addition to opening its sixth large-scale vaccination site, Cook County Health recorded its two biggest days of vaccine administration yet with 13,592 on Tuesday and 14,910 on Wednesday.

“To be able to hit this milestone in a four-month period is a true testament to the hard work and dedication from county and state staff, as well as the Illinois National Guard,” said Israel Rocha Jr., CEO for Cook County Health.

While we work to vaccinate more of the population, it is still critically important to continue to mask, social distance and practice proper hand hygiene.
