Vision care, also known as oftalmología, studies the eye and conditions affecting the eye, eyelid or orbit.

The physicians at Cook County Health provide comprehensive eye care, from routine eye exams to minor and major surgical procedures.
Many eye conditions and diseases show no symptoms until they have progressed to the late stages. The best way to prevent any eye disease is to have regular eye examinations, on average every 2-4 years or otherwise prescribed by your doctor. The American Academy of Oftalmología recommends all adults to have a baseline eye disease screening at age 40. Adults aged 65 or older are recommended to have an exam every 1 to 2 years.
