As the flagship of Cook County Health, John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital remains at the forefront of new therapies and innovations in healthcare.

The 450-bed teaching hospital serves as the hub for Cook County Health for delivery of specialty and sub-specialty care. We are home to one of the busiest Level 1 trauma centers in the nation and the hospital’s emergency room treats approximately 120,000 adults and children annually.

Intensive Care Unit: 24/7
(Children must be at least 2 years old.)

Pediatrics

All units: 24/7 for Parents and Guardians

General Inpatient: 11:00am – 8:00pm
(Children must be at least 2 years old.)

Neonatal and Pediatric ICUs: 9:00am – 8:00pm
(Children must be at least 6 years old.)

OB/GYN

Labor and Delivery: 24/7 for Labor Support Person and 11:00am – 8:00pm for Others
(Children must be at least 2 years old.)

*Clergy can visit 24/7.

CCH Holiday Hours

Stroger Hospital and Provident Hospital are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please dial 911, or go to your nearest emergency department.

CCH Health Centers will be open limited hours for the holidays.

Thanksgiving Day – Thursday, November 28, 2024: CLOSED

Christmas Eve – Tuesday, December 24, 2024: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Christmas Day – Wednesday, December 25, 2024: CLOSED

New Year’s Eve – Tuesday, December 31, 2024: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
