At Cook County Health, our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and treatments to provide specialized care for newborns who require medical attention.

This includes premature infants and those born with serious illnesses. Our NICU team adopts a multidisciplinary approach, bringing together expertise from pediatrics, nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, social work, and nutrition to ensure comprehensive care.

Our NICU is dedicated to the smallest patients with a variety of medical needs. Throughout your child’s stay in the NICU, our team works closely with your family to promote bonding and provide the necessary education, training, and support to prepare for a smooth transition home.

After discharge from the NICU, we continue to support families and their children at the High-Risk Neonatal Follow-Up Clinic (HRC). This clinic provides ongoing multidisciplinary care and neuro-developmental assessments for infants through the age of five. Services are specifically designed for those who have developmental disabilities or are at risk for developmental delays.
