Dr. Jafar Hasan currently serves as Chief Innovation & Clinical Integration Officer. In this role, he advances the design and financial development of innovative health care programs and initiatives for Cook County Health (CCH), with the primary goal of service line development and optimization. Dr. Hasan identifies emerging trends and healthcare best practices to drive positive transformation throughout the health system on behalf of the patients we serve.

Dr. Hasan has held several physician leadership roles focused on driving quality improvement and service line access, including Interim Director of Surgical Services at Provident Hospital. Dr. Hasan joined CCH in 2008 as an attending plastic and reconstructive surgeon. He has over 20 years of experience in the field of medical innovation, is a named inventor on over 40 issued U.S. and international patents, and serves on national committees of surgical societies focusing on innovation and education.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in computational mathematics from Albion College (MI), and his doctorate from the University of Michigan Medical School. Dr. Hasan completed an integrated plastic surgery residency at the University of Michigan Health System and also earned an MBA from the University of Michigan Stephen M. Ross School of Business with concentrations in finance, innovation and entrepreneurship.
