CountyCare Now Offering Family Health Plan Option

September 10, 2014

Plan covers wide range of health care services, including doctor visits and prescriptions, for children, parents and caregivers

Parents in search of a health plan for the entire family, now have CountyCare as an option. CountyCare is offering no-cost health care for qualifying households.

CountyCare, an Illinois Medicaid Health Plan supported by the Cook County Health & Hospitals System (CCH), provides access to a wide range of health care services, including doctor visits, prescriptions and specialists, at more than 130 medical facilities throughout Cook County.

“CountyCare covers the services families need – from regular check-ups and immunizations to blood tests and emergency services – all at no cost,” said Steven Glass, CCH’ Executive Director of Managed Care. “More than 100,000 Cook County residents have already signed up for CountyCare, and we are extending this option to Cook County families.”

CountyCare offers access to expert doctors through a network of more than 130 locations and is available for any Cook County resident with Medicaid, AllKids or FamilyCare coverage. Covered benefits include medical, pharmacy, family health planning, dental and behavioral health services. All covered services are provided at no cost. As part of the plan, members can select a primary care provider and medical home, where members will go to get medical care on a regular basis.

In addition to the high quality care provided at CCH facilities, CountyCare has partnered with local health clinics and hospitals throughout Cook County to establish an extensive network to meet the region’s health care needs. “As the school year begins, this is a perfect time for families to consider their health plan options,” said Dr. Elmer Abbo, CountyCare’s Medical Director. “CountyCare connects families to the health care they need.”
