The Clinical Research Office (CRO) serves as the centralized operational and scientific support core for clinical research at CCH. The CRO partners with investigators, academic collaborators, and industry sponsors to ensure efficient study activation, execution, and delivery of high-quality data aligned with regulatory and scientific standards.

Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) & Institutional Review Board (IRB)
Cook County Health’s Institutional Review Board (IRB) is committed to upholding the highest ethical and regulatory standards for human participants involved in research conducted by or through Cook County Health.
The IRB serves as the board of record for all Cook County Health affiliates. Meetings of the IRB are held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday each month.
The Office of Research & Regulatory Affairs provides administrative support to the IRB, reviews the process for all protocol applications, provides feedback and corresponds with investigators, and supports educational programming and post-approval monitoring.

The Sponsored Programs Office (SPO) provides strategic and institutional leadership and a centralized administrative oversight across the sponsored research lifecycle. SPO supports and empowers investigators and their project teams in their pursuit of grant funding from both federal and non-federal sponsors, as well as provides guidance an award is received.
