About
We are a world-renowned health care facility that is simultaneously advancing the frontiers of medicine and remaining true to our mission, despite the economic challenges of providing health care to those most in need.
The Emergency Medicine Residency Program is internationally recognized for its strong clinical services and wonderfully diverse patient population. We are committed to continuing Cook County Health’s mission of service while training outstanding emergency medicine specialists.
Our residents learn the practice of emergency medicine with the guidance of knowledgeable clinical faculty. We supplement clinical experiences with outstanding didactics using multiple modalities such as small group teaching, patient simulation, cadaver-based procedural labs, and intensive educational courses. Our residency and medical student programs provide:
Comprehensive supervision by dedicated faculty
A diverse patient population with a broad spectrum of disease
A structured curriculum with exceptional clinical teaching and didactics
The opportunity to make a difference from day one
For more information about the program, including details on how to apply, please reach out to our Program Director, Dr. Michael Schindlbeck, at [email protected].
Stroger Hospital and Provident Hospital are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please dial 911, or go to your nearest emergency department.
