Dr. Steven Aks is the Chief Academic Affairs Officer. In this role, he is responsible for leading the development and administration of all educational programs for CCH, including medical residency and fellowship programs, professional education, and development of academic pathway models.
Dr. Aks had been serving as the Director, Division of Toxicology, and Toxikon Consortium since 2003. He was Fellowship Director of the Medical Toxicology Program from 1997-2021 and was Interim Vice Chairman for the CCH Department of Emergency Medicine from 2019 to 2023.
Dr. Aks earned his medical degree from The New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1987 and completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at The Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1990 before joining CCH for his fellowship in Medical Toxicology at the Cook County Hospital, Toxikon Consortium.
Dr. Aks is Board Certified in Clinical Toxicology by the American Board of Medical Toxicology and in Emergency Medicine by the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Medical Toxicology and the American College of Emergency Physicians.
