Ellie Bane serves as Cook County Health’s Chief Legal Officer. In this role, Ms. Bane leads the delivery of legal services and resources to accomplish CCH’s goals, strategies, and priorities. 

Working closely with the Cook County States Attorneys’ Office, the Office of the Independent Inspector General for Cook County, and Legal Office of the Cook County Office of the President, she is responsible for the provision of legal advice and counsel to the health system. She oversees all legal services and consultations to Cook County Health and its Board of Directors on a variety of matters including employment, public law, health law, medical staff matters, local law and board governance. In addition to leading the legal team, Ms. Bane takes pride in serving as a strategic business partner and legal advisor to Cook County Health’s leadership team and its Board of Directors.

Ms. Bane most recently served as Associate General Counsel for UCHealth in Denver, Colorado. She has extensive legal experience in health care, serving in legal leadership roles with healthcare providers and payers including Friday Health Plans, Ector County Hospital District, Cigna, CommonSpirit Health, and CHRISTUS Health. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas, Austin and her Juris Doctor at University of Houston Law Center. Ms. Bane is a certified AHLA arbitrator/mediator.
